さばドル (Saba Doru)

recently completed watching this drama in just a day. 12 episodes, 20 mins each. personally, i think it's a great drama because there's my oshi, mayuyu inside! the story basically revolves around her, so this "review" will be super biased because well.. mayuyu. :)

synopsis (cr: mydramalist.com)
The story revolves around the 38-year-old Usa Shijimi (Watanabe), who is a high school classical literature teacher. Her students are mean to her, but they don’t realize that she has another identity. Outside school, she lies about her age to be active as the super popular 17-year-old idol Watanabe Mayu, whom the students adore.

well, let's talk about how i got started on this drama. i first saw it on mydramalist.com, which i added to my "plan to watch" list. then many weeks, or even months, later, i saw it at poh kim and since there was a discount, i decided to buy it together with pandora3. well that dvd sucked. the subtitles are lousy. i believe they were translated using google translate or similar. e.g. mayuyu becomes "ma friends of friends", utamaro becomes "song mo". what kind of crap is this. and i couldn't understand anything, so i decided to give up after the 2nd ep and just rewatch it online. (wasted my money zzz)

in the beginning few episodes, nothing much really. no super exciting parts, etc. just about usa shijimi's journey and obstacles she faced with 2 identites. but from ep7 (i think) onwards, the story starts to build up. i won't spoil the show here, you'll have to watch it to find out. from ep7 to the last ep, ep12, i cried a lot. it's really touching. the last ep was great. it left with me a great impact.

the casts were really awesome - from mayuyu to keisuke to tamae to ryuya.. they all acted well. without them, this drama wouldn't be as fantastic. it's also what made me cry a lot. however, they use (the real) mayuyu's first single, synchro tokimeki, as the background song all the time. basically every time there's music, it'll be synchro tokimeki. her performances in the show are also synchro tokimeki every single time. i guess that's the only downside though. too overused, from ep1 all the way to ep12. the ending song is different tho. another thing i have with this drama is the repetition of "AKB48's Watanabe Mayu. 17 years old. Truth is, she's 38 (blablablabla)" IN EVERY SINGLE EP. well but for the last few eps they varied it but still carried the same meaning. really quite boring to watch that part tho, but i'm fine with it bc she's my oshi. i wouldn't know bout y'all tho so yup.

other than those, i basically have no complaints about it. it's a nice drama, one that i don't regret starting. one that got me hooked instantly (I DIDN'T STUDY AT ALL NOOOOO), one that occupied my entire day. i really recommend y'all to watch it, if you're currently sourcing for dramas to watch. i promise you, it won't be wasted. it's really, really a nice drama. :)

do look out for my next review! yes, i'm planning on doing reviews for certain dramas if i feel like it. but take note that if my favourite artistes are inside, it's gonna be super subjective. you've been warned. (;

till then!
